Highly collectible vintage 1970s NYC tan leather Coach Dinky Penny Pocket purse. The purse opens and closes via a long flap with a classic brass turn-lock closure. The purse has a detachable leather strap with brass anchor marked clips. Anchor marked hardware was used on some of the older Coach bags. The leather strap is approximately 35" long with 17 1/2" drop. The purse measures 9" L x 5" H x 1 1/2" W.
The interior is suede with a long zip leather pocket. The creed is embossed on the pocket in all capital letters:
"COACH" "LEATHERWARE". "THIS IS A COACH BAG. IT IS MADE OUT OF A COMPLETELY NATURAL GLOVE TANNED COWHIDE. THE SCARS, SCRATCHES, VEINS AND WRINKLES ARE NATURAL MARKINGS CHARACTERISTICS OF FULL GRAIN LEATHERS. MADE IN NEW YORK CITY, U.S.A. No 807-5560". The serial number is in a seven digit xxx-xxxx format, which would date this bag from mid to late 70s. The serial numbers were unique to each bag back then and did not indicate the style.
The hangtag is signed on one side "COACH" with a worn "LEATHERWARE" right below it. The back of the hangtag is suede.
The interior is clean with a small water spot on the leather pocket. There's a small worn area on the piping on the backside near the top. The Coach creed is a worn and barely visible in some areas. The purse is otherwise in very good vintage condition with normal vintage wear. See photos for details.
