Rare Richard Hudnut 1915 Three Flowers rouge pot mirrored compact. The compact is beautifully detailed with lines and circles in an early Art Deco style. There's a blank cartouche on top of the lid for engraving initials. The compact measures approximately 1 1/2" D x  3/8" H.

The top lid opens by lifting the small lip on the front of the top lid. There's a mirror inside the lid with space for rouge. The compact is etched on the side, "Three Flowers Richard Hudnut New York Paris", and "Made In U.S.A" beneath the hinge.

The gold-tone metal shows discoloration and wear. The hinge has partially detached and needs repair. See photos for details.

Richard Hudnut is best known as the first successful American cosmetic manufacturer. He began his successful cosmetic business in New York and Paris in 1880, and sold it in 1916 to Warner-Lambert (now Pfizer, Inc.). He retired and bought a chateau in Juan-les-Pins France, where he lived until he passed away in 1928 at the age of 73.
