An antique Victorian / Edwardian Era carved celluloid coral rose brooch by Riley & French. The brooch features elegantly detailed gold-tone leaves on a wreath with a carved celluloid coral color rose centerpiece. The brooch measures approximately 1" W x 3/4" H. The celluloid rose measures approximately 8mm.
The brooch has an early safety catch ca. 1890-1910. The safety catch is marked on one side R & F for Riley & French. Riley, French & Heffron were jewelry manufacturers in Attleboro, MA ca. 1883 - 1916.
The brooch has discoloration of the gold-tone metal and shows signs of use on the backside. The safety catch pin is a little loose, but still works fine. The brooch is in very good condition otherwise.
